Knuckle

Finger knuckle patterns, intricately linked to finger anatomy, serve as unique identifiers in forensic contexts, particularly when conventional evidence is scarce. Amid COVID-19 hygiene concerns and widespread smartphone usage, interest grows in developing contactless finger knuckle identification methods. This talk explores the vast potential of various finger knuckle patterns for online identification, assessing their stability across age groups. Additionally, we examine the efficacy of knuckle minutiae and other feature extraction algorithms. Experimental findings from contactless finger knuckle databases, encompassing over 700 subjects, will be shared, alongside a live demonstration of our contactless online identification system.
